Project Brief

Stowe School partnered with TaskSpace to create a brand-new Sixth Form Social Centre, designed to give students a vibrant and contemporary space that complements their academic life. The project involved a complete refurbishment of an existing building, reimagining it as a welcoming hub with a mix of study, dining, and social zones. The design introduced modern furniture, flexible layouts, and a warm, collegiate aesthetic, ensuring the centre could serve a wide range of functions throughout the school day.

Purpose

The school identified the need for a dedicated Sixth Form facility that could match the expectations of older pupils preparing for life beyond Stowe. Leadership wanted to provide a high-quality space that encouraged students to take ownership of their daily routines - somewhere they could relax, study independently, and socialise as part of a balanced Sixth Form experience. The Social Centre was therefore conceived not just as a building project, but as an investment in student wellbeing and preparation for university life.

Key Outcomes

The completed Social Centre has quickly become the heart of Sixth Form life at Stowe. Students benefit from a comfortable, stylish environment that allows them to switch seamlessly between academic and social activities. Dedicated areas for quiet study, group collaboration, and informal downtime give pupils the autonomy to choose how they use their time, mirroring the independence they will need in higher education. The centre also acts as a focal point for community life and contributing to a stronger sense of belonging within the Sixth Form.
