Project Brief

Malvern College had a bold vision: to create a campus that inspires, connects, and equips students for the future. The challenge lay in turning ambition into reality. Through close collaboration between the school and its project partners, a phased masterplan came to life - delivering the first dedicated Sixth Form Centre, The Grub social hub, a reimagined main reception, an innovative “super classroom” (The Gaunt), and, pivotally, a new centralised dining space (The Gryphon). Each project was carefully designed to honour the school’s historic architecture while introducing modern, flexible, and purposeful environments. Together, these spaces have transformed Malvern’s campus - and with further phases planned, the journey of transformation is only just beginning.

Purpose

The leadership team recognised that certain facilities no longer matched the school’s educational ambition. Sixth formers lacked a shared hub; the house system limited informal interaction; reception needed safeguarding and identity improvements; teaching spaces required flexibility; and in-house dining kept the community fragmented. A defined project approach was essential - aligning the vision with practical design and delivery to create spaces that would genuinely transform daily life.

Key Outcomes

The results speak for themselves. The Sixth Form Centre now provides a professional, co-working-style environment that fosters independence and prepares students for life beyond school. The Grub and The Gryphon have become true social hubs, breaking down barriers and strengthening community across year groups. The new centralised dining space - a long-held aspiration that had proven challenging to deliver in the past - has finally been realised, creating not only a transformational social experience but also significant operational and financial efficiencies. The reimagined main reception now offers a prestigious, welcoming first impression while enhancing safeguarding, and The Gaunt showcases adaptive teaching for the future. Collectively, these projects have elevated Malvern into a rare category of schools with facilities of this calibre, turning an ambitious vision into a living reality and cementing its position as a leader in educational environments.
