Transforming Learning & Staff Environments at St Margaret’s School
Project Brief
King’s College Taunton partnered with TaskSpace to develop a new two-storey Sixth Form building designed to rival the very best facilities in the sector. TaskSpace worked from an early stage on the project, with the result being a striking, contemporary environment that supports both academic focus and social connection.
Purpose
The College sought to provide its Sixth Form with a dedicated space that would reflect the maturity of older pupils, foster independence, and attract prospective families. Leadership identified the need for a facility that combined high-quality study spaces with a sense of community, offering flexibility for both daily student use and wider school events. A central goal was to break away from traditional layouts and create an interior that felt fresh, collegiate, and future-focused.
Key Outcomes
The completed building brings together a variety of zones to support every aspect of Sixth Form life. Classrooms and breakout areas cater to independent learning and collaborative work, while the atrium café forms the social heart of the building. Flexible meeting spaces double up for use by governors, donors, and school events, giving the block a wider value to the community. High-quality furniture complements the architecture, reinforcing the sense of prestige and modernity.
Students now benefit from a space that feels distinctly their own - an environment that promotes study, socialising, and a smooth transition towards university and beyond. For King’s College Taunton, the new Sixth Form Centre has strengthened its identity and enhanced its offer at a key stage in the pupil journey.
