Laxton Junior School

New Design Scheme for Science & Art Rooms

Laxton Junior School is a thriving day school for boys and girls aged 4 to 11, set in the market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire.

The Headmaster of the School approached TaskSpace in January 2021, seeking to create a new design scheme for two outdated Science and Art rooms.

Key Features

Within what became the Art & Design Studio, various design features were proposed including a track lighting system (bright individual lighting for every pupil’s work) and a bespoke storage configuration to maximise efficiency and remove clutter.

Inside the STEAM Lab, designed to reflect the outstanding facilities offered at Oundle School, the design included a flexible table system to maximise mobility, and a dramatic black ceiling to create visual impact.

Testimonial

“My sincere thanks to you and your team for the outstanding STEAM spaces that you have developed for us at Laxton Junior School. We have arrived at half-term with both rooms having being used daily to support our science and art programmes, and the impact that they have had on the quality of teaching and learning has been phenomenal. The look and feel of both spaces has certainly exceeded our expectations and we could not be more delighted with the manner in which they have inspired our community’s engagement with them. Throughout the design and installation process we found TaskSpace to be an excellent partner, working hard to listen to our requirement and flexing as we worked towards a design that would achieve our ambitions. Despite the limited timeframe and the external pressures on both yourselves and the School, I feel it was a very successful partnership and one that we will both recommend and look to again in the future.”
