Library Refurbishment

Whitley Park is an exceptional primary school. An exceptional primary school that had a problem. The dark, dated, underused Learning Resource Centre simply didn’t match the light, welcoming atmosphere found everywhere else in the school. TaskSpace were selected to come in and redesign the space, and then fit out the area with new furniture, lighting, flooring and storage systems.

The TaskSpace design team got to work. Developing a bright, contemporary space that really wowed the pupils, staff and parents. The new design scheme featured a central flooring design and various multi-purpose zones for collaboration, reading, study and teamwork. We also installed feature lighting which produces a theatrical, dramatic atmosphere when the school has guest authors in to read to the children, which is a regular occurrence.

The biggest challenge with this particular brief was to bring the space to life with colour and vibrancy with an absence of any natural light. Rather than fight the lack of daylight in the space, we added feature lighting which actually added atmosphere and then complemented this with bright flooring and colourful furniture.

The full Learning Resource Centre was fitted out from top to bottom, on time and on budget leaving the teaching team, the pupils and the parents overjoyed with the result.
